ABOUT HUNTSVILLE
Huntsville is located in northern Alabama, specifically, Madison county. To the west is Limestone county. These two counties combine to make up the official Huntsville metropolitan area of nearly 455,458 people.
It is home to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, featuring the Saturn V rocket.
The #1 employer in Huntsville is Redstone Arsenal. The base contains a government and contractor workforce that averages 36,000 to 40,000 personnel daily. Originally a chemical weapons manufacturing facility during World War II, the base now hosts the Marshall Space Flight Center, NASA's field center for propulsion analysis and development. Redstone Arsenal also remains the center of testing, development, and doctrine for the Army's missile programs. Besides the U.S. Army Materiel Command and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command, Redstone houses the Tactical UAV Project Office, Redstone Test Center (RTC), the Missile Defense Agency, and the Missile and Space Intelligence Center.
The FBI is expanding its operations on Redstone Arsenal, and the Toyota-Mazda plant has opened in Limestone County.
